FORE!KIDS FOUNDATION PARTNERS WITH PGA TOUR PROFESSIONAL GOLFER
KELLY GIBSON & COX LOUISIANA TO SPONSOR JUNIOR GOLF TOUR
Gibson’s Foundation Feed the Relief will operate the Kelly Gibson Junior Golf Tour this summer
NEW ORLEANS, LA (April 7, 2010)—Popular New Orleans PGA TOUR professional Kelly Gibson
has teamed up with Cox Louisiana and the Fore!Kids Foundation to sponsor a junior golf tour series
in the New Orleans region this summer, announced Gibson, who is also a member of the Fore!Kids
Foundation.
“The Kelly Gibson Junior Golf Tour is a natural extension of our Feed the Relief organization’s work
to support first responders and now children through athletics,” said Gibson. “We are delighted that
our efforts will be supported by the Fore!Kids Foundation, which has raised more than $19 million
Eight junior golf tournaments are planned for this summer, starting June 7 and culminating July 26
with the Tour Championship at TPC Louisiana, the site of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans PGA
TOUR event April 19-25.
“We are excited about this new partnership that will take junior golf in the New Orleans area to an
entirely new level,” said Tommy Fonseca, president of the Fore!Kids Foundation, producer of the
Zurich Classic. “No two individuals in this community are more dedicated to developing junior golf
than Kelly Gibson and Feed the Relief executive director Brad White, who formerly worked as our
operations director,” said Fonseca.
The Kelly Gibson Junior golf Tour will award golf scholarships based on community service, grade
point average and financial need, said Gibson. “Scholarships will not be based on golfing ability,” he
said. All members of the Tour who are juniors in high school or older are eligible to apply for the
scholarships.
The Fore!Kids Foundation and partners with the BC Cup Foundation and the New Orleans Golf
Association, will continue its own program of scholarships to junior golfers who will participate in
the Kelly Gibson Junior Golf Tour. With its partners, the Foundation awards some $30,000 each year
in scholarships to junior golfers in the New Orleans area.
